What is 'free cancellation period'?

Almost every flight ticket has a free cancellation period. Travel agents call this “voiding period”. This means that you can cancel a ticket within a certain period of time after it was issued, and you can either get a full refund or not get charged at all.

On C Teleport, you can check the free cancellation period from the cancellation timeline at the moment you’re searching for a flight or at the moment of booking it.

You will see a window with the deadline to cancel the ticket for free as per your local time. After the deadline, the rules will apply.

Or, on the booking screen, you can see the date and time of the deadline in your time zone.

Even those marked as “Non-refundable” can have a free cancellation period.

⚠️IMPORTANT: Since C Teleport searches through different sources worldwide, the deadline can be very different for each fare. Looking at the cancellation timeline is the most reliable way to check it.

For tickets purchased from low-cost airlines or bought very close to the departure time (e.g., within an hour), it may not be possible to obtain a free refund due to insufficient processing time. This means that once you book this flight, it is impossible to cancel it at any time. In this case, the below alert will be shown on your booking screen:

What is the duration of the free cancellation period?
We fully comply with IATA voiding times, which are different by geography and time zones. Since C Teleport sources cheapest tickets from a large number of geographical sources, the free cancellation period may be different from ticket to ticket.

The free cancellation period is always displayed to you before booking and takes into account all rules and your local timezone. For example. if our customers buy from a US source, we will have the same cancellation period as any other US-based travel agent. If it is a ticket from the Netherlands, the voiding window will be according to the Dutch rules.

Let's compare by level of convenience from the worst to the best scenario:
Online travel agents usually cannot void tickets, you have to pay for every single booking.
Some agents (especially offline) can void tickets, If you void a ticket, you don't pay.
Few agents will extend the voiding window
Some agents (mostly offline) will monitor the reservation and refresh the fare mask to extend the voiding window. This process is highly manual. This process depends on the airline rules. The process is also risky because it may lead to loss of reservation.

C Teleport does all of that and more
C Teleport does all of that automatically. In addition, if you book a fully refundable ticket, you may cancel it even after booking and still not get the invoice, because it will be instantly refunded free of charge.

What happens with non-refundable tickets?
They still have the cancellation period and you may cancel them for free, unless they explicitly say otherwise. Even for non-refundable tickets, we observe all the procedures explained above, which allows you to cancel non-refundable tickets for free during the cancellation period.

If you have any further questions about the fare policy, you can always double-check with our support team in chat.
